Services at Holy Trinity

Sunday services
We have two services every Sunday of the year and an evening service on the 2nd Sunday of the month. You are very welcome to come to any of them, every service has a welcomer on the door, so you will receive a warm welcome when you arrive.
8am Holy Communion
This early morning service is a calm time, held in a smaller section of the church (so, if you arrive late, please come in - we'll be at the other side of the church). There is no music – it’s entirely spoken. Usually we have around 10 adults in the congregation.
This is always a communion service, with a sermon or a homily. On the 1st and 3rd (and 5th if there is one) Sundays of the month the service is from The Book of Common Prayer, in ‘traditional’ language. On the 2nd and 4th Sundays we use ‘contemporary’ language, using liturgy from Common Worship.
10am Parish Worship with Holy Communion
Sunday at 10.00am is the main service of the week – and the busiest. The vast majority of weeks, this is a service of Holy Communion, with the robed choir and organist leading hymns. We have a mix of hymns and songs. On the 3rd Sunday of the month, our band leads us in worship.
We have a particular desire to welcome children and young people. The creche is available for pre-schoolers, and Sparklers is our Sunday Group for children, including stories and craft. You can find out more on our children and young people Sundays page.
All 10:00am services are currently livestreamed to our Facebook page, if you would like to join us from home.
After the service most of the congregation stay for a while in church for coffee, biscuits and a chat: a chance to catch up, and of course get to know new members of the congregation.
5.30pm Evening Worship
On the second Sunday of the month, we offer a quiet, reflective service. This service takes different forms - some months we will worship with music from the Taize community or Iona. If there is no Communion at the 10am service, we will share in Communion in the evening.

Communion service
Usually, the 10:00am service is communion, and it’s always in contemporary language – there are no ‘thees & thous’ (except in the hymns!).
The service lasts just over an hour. On average we have about 60 adults and 10 children. Everyone is more than welcome to attend.
We are happy to give communion to anyone who is confirmed or who takes communion elsewhere. If you don’t want to take communion, that’s not a problem – you’re free to stay in your seat at that point in the service, or to come to the communion rail with to receive a blessing. And if you can’t get up to the altar rail, we can bring communion to you.

All Age
Four times a year, we have an All Age service which does not include Holy Communion.
The music for songs and hymns is led by a band, and children can join in with instruments of their choice from a box in church!
Sometimes our uniformed groups (Scouting and Guiding) join us too.
Because it’s intended for all age groups, the children stay with us, but the creche is there for the very youngest as they need.
Children take part as much as possible and the sermons become fun, interactive talks! These services are always under an hour.
Check the calendar (What’s On tab) for exact dates each month.
Weekday Service
Thursday 10.30am Holy Communion
This service is a calm time, held in the chancel. There is no music – it’s entirely spoken, and usually lasts about 40 minutes. Usually we have around 15-20 adults in the congregation.
This is always a ‘traditional language’ communion service from the Book of Common Prayer. Afterwards, many of the congregation have coffee together in the Trinity Centre foyer.
