Funerals

Funerals
You don’t have to attend church oe be baptised to have a Church of England minister take your funeral. At Holy Trinity, we ensure that everyone is welcome to have their funeral with us. Funeral ministry is an important part of Holy Trinity’s care of people in the parish. We take funerals in the church and others in one of the local crematorium chapels. We work with all the local Funeral Directors and ensure we offer the very best service we can for you and your loved one.

Arranging a funeral
If you need to organise a funeral, whether in church or at a crematorium, it is usual that you would speak first with your Funeral Director. They will liaise between you, us, and the crematorium (or cemetery) to find a time that is suitable for everyone. Then we will contact you to arrange a meeting. Alternatively, please contact us and someone can help you.
We will arrange to meet you to discuss the service with you, guiding you through the format of the service, music choices, readings and so on. If you want us to give the eulogy/tribute we will ask you about the deceased’s life, so that we can make it as personal to them as we can. There is a fee involved in a funeral, but you don’t need to worry about paying us – it is dealt with for you by the Funeral Director as part of their service.
After the funeral
We would love to keep in touch with you after the funeral, however there is no pressure at all. Once a year, usually on the first Sunday of November, we have a service called Commemoration of the Departed. At that service, we remember all who have died, and read out the names of those whose funerals our team has taken in the previous 12 months. We invite the people for whom we’ve taken a funeral of a loved one – but of course all friends and family are welcome to come along.
